Uzbekistan - where the caravans passed

We have now been in Uzbekistan for about 4 days.  We'll be here in different hotels and cities for another 4.  Absolutely beautiful old and ancient walled cities and stories to go with them. People and friendly and happy to see tourists, unlike Turmenistan, where police were on every corner, and the sites too much like a false face, hiding the true realities of the
country and experiences of the people.

Excellent and educated guides to tell us stories of the poets and scientists that lived here, where algebra was born, and architecture developed to a fashion meant for sultans, trade markets, and caravans.  Stone work is an art, dress is colourful and free in the hot breeze. Aladin likely flew his carpet here.
