Hot days in Turkmenistan

June 27
Now in Turkmanistan in the capital city of Agarat. This following 48 hours crossing the Caspean Sea - mostly about waiting in port until cargo was loaded or else for other boats to clear the docks. So two nights in reasonably comfortable bunks with a cool breeze coming through the portal. No rocking - we sailed smoothly through as calm as skating on ice. Cards, knitting and reading as pass times, and walking about the deck though we were restricted on the top deck for unknown reasons. One toilet for the 19 of us and no shower - pretty dicy on that one. A squat toilet - no seat. Twice plugged up but cleared when we could find the right person to help.
Get into Turkmanistan was slow. Customs wanted to search all our bags and the content of the bus. It took a couple of hours so we were late driving into our campsite -about midnight in the, putting our tent up with the sand blowing about us. When we woke up we could see the desert around us. The 6 hour drive to the capital was hot and sticky with sweat but the landscape we passed was striking with bare sands and hills, and camels instead of cows or sheep walking the plans.
So today - back to a modern life - will include a tour bus through the city, and swim in the hotel pool...
